Competitive Events
Obedience
Obedience competitions are based on a structured curriculum of testing for dogs with commands including heel, sit, stay, come, down, and stand. Dogs can win titles in obedience and many people find this a great way to teach their dog basic manners - a very good idea for the Puli!
Obedience has recently expanded to also include Rally competitions. Rally is presented as a less rigid introduction to obedience and has quickly gained popularity with entries often exceeding those of the traditional obedience trials.
Obedience is a great way to work with your dog and ensure that your Puli is a Canine Good Citizen.

Herding Trials
Herding is what the Puli was meant to do. Many of the breed's traits and habits are driven by their need to herd, from barking to nipping at heels to using your livingroom as a jungle gym. You can hone that desire by giving your Puli an opportunity to experience the very activity it is programmed to do.
Usually there are Herding Instinct trials held in each area of Canada at least once or twice a year. There are also herding clinics offered to people who want to go beyond just checking the instinct, they want to learn how to herd with their dog. It is a fascinating and thrilling experience to see your 'couch potato' Puli suddenly start herding by instinct without any prior training.

Conformation
'Conformation' simply means a dog show. This is where the Puli is shown against other Pulis and different breeds of dogs to determine which dog is the best representative of the breed at that show on that day. Dog shows are a great way to spend time with your dog and to meet new people with the same interests.

Agility
Agility is a fun way to burn off some of that Puli energy! Agility started as an obstacle course for dogs and quickly grew into a fantastic and fun way to work with your dog. It goes without saying that Pulis excel at agility. They are smart, quick, and are always ready with a sense of humour. It is always a crowd pleaser to see a Puli in full coat fly around the course and they rarely fail to do well in this incredibly popular dog sport. Agility is available through most training schools and dogs of any age can join in the fun!
